Green School News

This year our Green School’s Committee would like to welcome 5 new members. We have 2 new members from 2nd class, Cathal Madden and Eabha Ryan. Maeve McCaul, Mark O’Halloran and Darryl O’Donnell are joining us from 6th class.

We are beginning to get our teeth into our new theme:- Global Citizenship – Litter and Waste.

The aim of this theme is to enable schools to discover how Green Schools work has positively influenced people and environments worldwide, while revising the previous litter and waste theme. In the case of our school it is over 10 years since we earned the flag for litter and waste. Therefore it will be important for us to take an honest look at litter and waste management in our school.

According to G.S. Ireland schools working on this theme successfully decreased waste to landfill by 27% in 2014/15.

Over the course of this flag we hope to significantly reduce our waste to landfill and gain an appreciation of how this positive change can make a global impact.
