Reading Buddies has taken place in Scariff N.S. three days a week for the past 5 weeks. Children from Junior Infants to 2nd Class were partnered up with children from 3rd to 6th Class. Reading Buddies helps to increase reading ability, confidence in reading and helps develop a positive attitude towards reading. All the younger children have really enjoyed reading with a buddy and their confidence in reading is growing. The older children have worked very hard at being good listeners and helping the younger children if they need it. Thank you to all the classes for taking part!

End Global warming,
Let’s Start!
National Spring Clean 2017
Scariff N.S. took part in the National Spring Clean Initiative on the 18th May. The whole school took part and members of the community helped. Infants did a litter pick of the school grounds. Ms Kenny and Mrs Daly’s classes picked litter in Cravens. Mr Keane’s class went to the GAA Field while Mrs Crotty’s and Mrs Frost’s classes picked litter in town. Thank you to all who participated!
Zero Car Day 2017
Scariff N.S. held a Zero Car Day on the 19th of May. All of the children were encouraged to travel to school using sustainable means to celebrate National Walk to School Week. Children who usually Park n’ Stride gathered at the GAA Field and walked to school with Mr Keane and Ms McMahon. We were successful in having no child arrive at school by car that day. Well done everyone!!

May – CRAFTed Project
Nicola, an artist, visited the classroom to do lots of art with the preschool this month. We had lots of opportunities to do nice art and craft activities.
We made some block and hand prints.
We made clay prints and then we painted it.
We did wet felt making.
We enjoyed doing mono printing.
We made marks with oil pastels and oil paint.
We made water colour prints with our hands and feet.
We had great fun and we thank Nicola for giving us this opportunity.
